R&P Post 32: Seeking Inspiration for our Artist

Hiya! Now we have begun to really kick start our plans for our music video and have started to research different locations and are currently trying to find actors to play the characters in our music video, we have also been looking at famous female pop stars to help us gain inspiration from them.

Above you can see a range of female pop stars that we can take inspiration from. From these images of these different pop singers what we can see is that they often wear revealing clothing, which I researched in my costume planning post. I found from this that female pop singers often wear off-the-shoulder tops, mini dresses or tight-fitting dresses, bralettes, skirts and shorts, often using their body to sell their music.

In terms of websites, I have decided to analyse Dua Lipa's website because she is a debut pop artist and therefore strongly identifies with our own artist. By exploring and studying a debut artist we can find inspiration for our own pop debut artist. Just below you can see pictures showing how I have analysed Dua Lipa's website:
On this page there is also links to other versions of Dua Lipa's debut album:

From this what you can see is how Dua Lipa is catering for a range of audiences. Her primary audience is young females who will mainly stream music online or buy digital downloads, thus they will be attracted to the 'Deluxe Digital' and 'Standard Digital' downloads of Lipa's music that are available for them to buy. However, some of her audience may be more traditional and prefer physical copies of music, hence the CDs available for purchase and also the vinyl records that are available. The vinyl copies of Lipa's music will especially appeal to older audiences who used vinyl when they were younger, demonstrating how marketing is being used to pull in a range of audiences to listen to Lipa's music.

I also analysed Lipa's main website:

Above, you can see how I have analysed the front page of Lipa's website and the links that you can find on here. From this what I have learnt is how to emphasise an music artist's marketing. Dua Lipa's marketing is especially emphasised through the similar colour scheme used throughout her website using pinks, purple and blues which is very similar to the colour scheme that we are using for our own artist. On her website the same font is also used throughout which really reinforces her advertising since this is the same font that appears on her digipak. What this tells us is that in order to create a successful and appealing website we need to keep things relatively simple. By using similar colours and fonts this makes our artist more memorable for our audience and will give our artist a relatively simple representation for our artist, enabling them to connect easily with our artist.

I hope you found my research interesting and hope to see you again soon!
